When people shop with The Little Lumber Co., they’re getting more than just a handmade sign or custom piece — they’re supporting a family-run business built with a whole lot of hard work, teamwork, and heart.
One of the things that makes this business so special to me is that my husband Hunter and I do it together.
While I handle so much of the creative side, customer experience, and the day-to-day details that keep everything moving, my husband is such a huge part of making this business what it is. He is incredibly hands-on in the shop and plays a major role in bringing our ideas to life. He is also our lead machine tech, which means he keeps our equipment running smoothly and makes sure everything is operating the way it should.
If you know anything about making custom wood products, you know there is so much more that goes into it than people see in the finished piece. Every sign starts long before the stain, paint, or final design details. There is prep work, machine setup, maintenance, sanding, cutting, troubleshooting, and constant attention to detail. That’s where my husband truly shines.
He is the one making sure the machines are dialed in, the cuts are clean, and the production side of our business stays on track. He’s not afraid to jump in wherever he’s needed, and he works hard behind the scenes to help us create products we’re proud to put our name on. So much of what we do would not be possible without his skill, patience, and dedication.
One of my favorite things about building this business together is knowing that each order is touched by both of us in some way. This business is a reflection of our family, our work ethic, and the life we’re building together. It’s not always easy balancing marriage, life, and business, but it is incredibly rewarding to work side by side toward something we care so deeply about.
There is something really meaningful about creating with the person you share your life with. We each bring different strengths to the table, and together those strengths help make The Little Lumber Co. what it is. Where one of us feels overwhelmed, the other steps in. Where one of us has a vision, the other helps make it happen. It truly is a team effort.
I’m so thankful for the work he puts in every single day — especially the parts that often go unnoticed by everyone else. The long hours, the problem-solving, the hands-on labor, and the commitment he gives to this business matter more than words can say.
The Little Lumber Co. is more than a business to us. It’s something we’ve built together, and that makes every piece we send out even more special.
When you support our small business, you’re supporting a husband-and-wife team that pours so much love, time, and effort into every order. And for that, we are so grateful.
